9th Grade: Building the Foundation

Introduction to diploma requirements and course planning
Focus on strong academic habits and time managementThe

10th Grade: Exploring Opportunities

Review academic progress toward graduation requirements
Take the PSAT for practice and feedback (PSAT10 offered in the spring)

Begin early discussions of college, military, and career pathways
Encourage family conversations about long-term goals and aspirations
Begin discussions on financial budget

11th Grade: Preparing for the Future

Take the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) in the fall
Begin standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and evaluate scores for improvement
Attend Junior Workshop to explore colleges, programs, and workforce options offered in the spring
Work one-on-one with advisors to refine post-secondary goals
Plan college visits and create an initial college or career list
Guidance on requesting recommendation letters and preparing application materials

12th Grade: Making it Happen

Attend Senior Seminar to finalize post-secondary plans
Complete and submit college, trade, or military applications with advisor support
Request recommendation letters and prepare application essays
File the FAFSA and explore scholarships and financial aid opportunities (FAFSA opens October 1)
Stay on track with graduation requirements and testing deadlines
Register to take the SAT/ACT in the fall
Receive personalized guidance through the decision and commitment process
Celebrate achievements and prepare for the transition beyond FUMA
